A Visit to A Zoo
The zoo is a garden for birds and animals. On the first day of January, I went to visit the zoo at Alipore by bus with some of my friends. At the gate we were on a long line to buy tickets to get into the zoo. Inside the gate we were in a different world. First we saw beautiful birds of various colours. There were sparrows, parrots, and many other birds. Most of them were twittering, chirping and whistling in their cage. But the o tuwls were sitting with their eyes closed, as if they were lost in deep thought. The chirping of the birds went on ringing deep in my. Then we saw the snakes of various sizes. Next we saw the giraffe, zebra, bison, rhinos and elephants and many other animals one by one. Roars of the lions and the tigers were deafening. We saw various kinds of deer. The elephants pleased us with a salute with their trunks. Next we moved towards the lions’ cage. We saw both the lion and lioness lie basking in the sun. The lion seemed to have been disturbed by our presence. Soon it gave an angry roar which echoed through the garden. We paid a visit to the tigers’ cage. The magnificent animal was pacing up and down with proud steps. I was really charmed at the royal look and light steps of this smart animal. Our next halt was at the aquarium section. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them swimming to and fro in water was really a rewarding experience. I reached home in a cheerful mood. This visit refreshed my mind and gave me an unforgettable experience of the animal world.

A Visit to A Zoo
The zoo is a garden for birds and animals. A visit to a zoo is one of the most enthralling and exciting things. It is an interesting way to help children get familiar with the animal kingdom by letting them see animals, which they cannot see otherwise. A visit to a zoo is an entertaining activity not just for children but also for adults as it increases their knowledge and makes them wonder at the marvels of nature.
During our educational tour to Delhi, last month, we were also taken to the zoo near the Old Fort. The zoo is one of the largest in the country, spread in a vast area of 35 acres, approximately. The zoo is thickly vegetated with a large variety of birds and animals.
We first visited the Birds’ section, which was a colourful treat to our eyes. This section was echoing with the chirping of the birds all over. The multi-coloured birds were twittering all over; we saw the graceful Pelicans, lovely Kingfishers and the Cranes, the dignified Swans, and Peacocks, Peahens, Sparrows of different kinds, Nightingales, Siberian Cranes, Storks, Ducks, the wild Parrot and a wide variety of mountain birds.
Next we went to the Animals’ section. It was amazing to see the Tigers, Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Bears, Rhinoceros, Hippopotamuses, Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Antelopes, Stags, Horses, and Rabbits etc. The Deer, Antelopes and Stags were very active and alert. The Hares and Rabbits were naughty while the tall Giraffes and twin-coloured Zebras were busy eating or grazing. The Rhinoceros and Hippopotamuses seemed to be very lazy. But they were interesting to look at with their huge and bulky bodies. We were hypnotized by their massive size. The Tigers, Leopards, Cheetahs, Bears were enormous and fearful to look at. Their sharp teeth and claws were very frightening. The king of the jungle looked awesome in his den. His loud roar echoed and reverberated up to the skies. We all could watch him for hours together.
The best attraction, however, were the Monkeys, Chimpanzees, Baboons, Gorillas etc. They were so amusing to watch with their pranks and swinging tails. We kept on watching them for a long time. Some other spectators gave them groundnuts to eat. We did not want to go ahead and leave the Monkeys’ section, as we could never tire from watching them eat and swing from one branch to another. But, alas, we had to move on.
Lastly, we went to the Reptiles’ section. We saw the Crocodiles lying in the sun and a wide variety of Snakes, Cripers and Cobras. Some of them hissed when we knocked at their glass frames and others were coiled up and did not bother to see us. We also saw many kinds of fishes, but they were not many in number.
We visited the entire zoo and it took us a few hours to enjoy the vast expanse. Walking around made us feel hungry, so we decided to eat. It took us another half an hour to get out of the zoo. We enjoyed the lunch and proceeded to see other places.
The visit was an extremely knowledgeable one. We saw so many birds and animals in real life. Until now we had seen them only in books or on television. But when we saw them in real life for the first time, we realized how wonderful and marvellous nature is. We wondered at the vast variety of beautiful gifs and how we, city people do not have much time and nature presents us with opportunities to see such marvels. We really enjoyed our visit to the zoo and made up our minds to visit many more such places.
When we returned, we also prepared a file, posted pictures of animals on social media whose snaps we had taken in the zoo and wrote our experience and information about the animals.
A Visit to A Zoo
Everyone needs relaxation and an occasional deviation from the drudgeries of daily existence. A visit to a zoo can offer him these. At the same time it is a learning experience. It was with this intention that I visited the Alipore Zoological Garden last 25th December with my parents. This visit was memorable because it was both enjoyable and educational.
We reached the gate of the zoo by taxi around 10 am. At the gate we were in a long line to buy tickets to get into the zoo. We got our tickets and entered the big arena of the zoo. Inside the gate we were in a different world.
We crossed the green sward, and were greeted by varieties of monkeys in cages. Monkeys and baboons were jumping on the trees within their enclosures. When some people threw food at them, they immediately jumped down from the trees to eat. Some children were making faces at them.
Then, we came across a beautiful lake in which some water-birds like ducks and swans were present. There were some migratory birds as well. As we moved, we came to the big netted enclosure in which birds were kept. There were sparrows, parrots, and many other birds. Most of them were twittering, chirping and whistling. But the owls were sitting with their eyes closed, as if they were lost in deep thought. The chirping of the birds went on ringing deep in my heart. In their songs, I heard the voice of nature to which the whole universe surrendered. I felt that all was right with the world.
We visited the tigers, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. Roars of the lions and the tigers were deafening. We found a tiger pacing restlessly with its blood-shot eyes. It was strongly built.
Then we came across a garden in which stags and deer were frisking about. These animals were very agile and beautiful.
Our next halt was at the aquarium section. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them swimming to and fro in water was really a rewarding experience. Just beside this enclosure, was the cage of a black bear. It attracted a mammoth gathering. The bear was playing many tricks that thrilled us. Some people offered it eatables which it gulped at once. At about 2 pm, feeling tired, we rested and relaxed on the grassy ground for half an hour. Fragrance of flowers coming from somewhere was really soothing. We again began to stroll around the zoo after having our lunch. We saw a variety of amphibians like crocodiles, snakes, frogs, and a variety of other creatures. We hired a boat and enjoyed a short pleasure ride in the canal. It was around 5 pm when we came out of the zoo. We boarded a bus, casting our last and lingering look on the zoo.
I reached home in a cheerful mood. This visit refreshed my mind and deepened my awareness of the animal world.
