Everyone has an aim and ambition in life. Without any proper aim no one can grow in life. A man without any aim in life is like a ship without a rudder or an envelope without an address. Such a man is hopeless or helpless. He always complains of hard times and blames his fate. My aim in life is to become a good teacher. Educating little children is a real blessing. I shall teach in a school and give my students the gift of knowledge. Children are the future of our country. Being a teacher I shall be able to bring happiness and laughter in the lives of these little flowers. There are many children who do not know what to do in their lives. I will guide and help them to learn and become good citizens of the country. They will lead the nation. I want to teach in such a way so that students can follow their dreams. I will help them in broadening their outlook. I’ll groom their personality and shape their characters. I’ll try to inculcate in them good moral values. According to the great educationist and our former president Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, “Teachers are the custodians of the highest values.”

The correct choice of profession is very important today, for one’s future depends on it. With the advancement of science and technology, various industries have been set up. Scientific inventions and innovations are always the main forces that drive the progress of human civilization. Hence, I dream of becoming a scientist. There are, of course, some reasons for my choice. Firstly, before scientific inventions, our lives were laborious and full of hardships. Blessed by science, man no more laments with Shakespeare:

As flies to wanton boys

Are we to the gods.

They kill us for their sport.

Science works for the betterment of humanity. It encompasses and nourishes modern life in such a way that a modern man without science is a non-entity today. Science frees us of hardships, dangers and sufferings. It guarantees man’s success in life. It acts as a driving force behind any human excellence. Science contemplates a world with enough food for everyone. It has given us telephones, the mobile phone, and similar gadgets with the help of which we can talk to our friends and relatives who are far away from us. It has brought tremendous changes to farming with the introduction of machinery. All industries are built with the help of science. Without the application of science, manufacture of millions of articles is simply impossible. Science helps us preserve our food by refrigeration, dehydration and canning. In a word, science has entered every part and phase of our civilization. Whether we like it or not, we are dependent on science for the minutest of work in our daily life. In short, science makes the world hospitable.

Secondly, science, like art, is an eternal search for truth. A genuine scientist works with a missionary zeal and steady determination. His principal aim is to promote the welfare of humanity. They pursue their task with an ever increasing devotion. Science makes use of the natural resources for social welfare. As a scientist, I shall not fail in this role.

Thirdly, under Article 51A (W) of the Indian Constitution, it is a duty of every Indian citizen to develop and promote the scientific spirit. Science develops curiosity and sharpens human faculties. The scientific mind questions, investigates and records the inferences to carry the scientific process forward. A genuine scientist should be creative, constructive, and highly responsible. To him, there is no place for sentiments and dogmas.

But, like any profession, there is a flip side to the work of a scientist. Today, crafty politicians and militants in a number of countries are using science and scientists to commit crimes against humanity. I am aware of this problem and so when I become a scientist, I will stick to my responsibility of promoting human welfare. I dream of becoming a scientist so that I too may make the same contribution towards the progress of humanity. I believe that every dream is attainable if the dreamer works tirelessly to realize it.
