Coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in the human respiratory system. COVID-19 is a new strain of virus. So it was named “Novel Coronavirus”. Coronavirus is zoonotic, meaning it is transmitted between animals and people. It causes common cold to more severe diseases. Coronavirus was first identified during December, 2019 in Wuhan city of China. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Covid-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Many countries imposed lockdowns to control the infection of coronavirus.

Fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties are the common symptoms of the coronavirus. Signs of fatigue, muscle pain, loss of smell and taste can also be found in Covid-19 patients. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. Coronavirus is more dangerous for old and those people who have health problems.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. So we can protect ourselves by avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of covid-19 disease. To prevent infection, we must wash hands regularly with soap or sanitizer. We must maintain social distance, wear masks in public and avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
