My dear Ankit,

I got your letter on my return from Puri. I went there with my parents and passed a week very happily. I know you have never been there. So a short account of the place will, I am sure, be interesting to you.

At Puri I saw many beautiful things. The most beautiful of all is the sea. When I first saw the sea, I stood simply spell-bound for some time. The vast blue sea roaring with endless waves breaking upon the shore presents a grand sight. Every evening we would go to the sea-beach to see the beautiful sunset scene.

I visited the holy temple of Lord Jagannath, one of the greatest attractions of Puri. The grandeur of the temple compels one’s admiration. I saw many other temples there. I visited the Alarnath temple which is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu worshipped as Lord Alarnath. Loknath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a revered temple from a cultural point of view of Odisha. Jambeswara temple, also known as Yameswar temple, is one of the most significant yet unknown landmarks of Puri. Each of them has a religious history of its own.

I also visited the Konarak Sun Temple (Surya Mandir) which is famous for its unique architecture. The temple is made of black granite. The temple is called Black Pagoda. I visited Nandankanan Zoological Park which is built right inside the forest and set in a completely natural environment.

Then came the day when we were to return. I liked the place so much that I could not think of leaving the place so soon. Mother and I wanted to stay there for a few more days. But my father did not agree. So we had to return reluctantly.

Hope you are all quite well. Convey my best regards to your parents and love to your brother and sister.

Your loving friend,

Pritam

My dear Ankit,

I got your letter recently. You have wanted to know about my visit to Murshidabad. I went there with my parents and passed two days very happily. I know you have never been there. So a short account of the place will, I am sure, be interesting to you.

I am so excited on my visit to Murshidabad. A visit to a new place is pleasant to all. I enjoyed a wonderful place on my last winter vacation. In the foggy morning of December 25 I went to Murshidabad with my parents. We came up to Berhampore by train. From there we reached Murshidabad by a motor-car.

It was a pleasant journey indeed. I saw beautiful landscapes, stations, towns, villages on both sides of the railway line. Murshidabad is a place of historical interest. Our first destination was the Jafarganze Palace. It is the place where Nawab Siraj-ud-Doula was brutally murdered. With a heavy heart we then came to Katra Mosque. Murshid Kuli Khan is sleeping here peacefully in his grave. Next we went to Motijheel Palace. The conspiracy to defeat Siraj sadly took place here. After lunch we went to Khusbag. Here we visited the tombs of Nawab Alivardi Khan, Siraj and his wife Lutfulnessa.

At last we visited the Hazarduari. It is a nice palace with many real and some false doors. We saw the weapons used by the nawabs of Bengal. We saw so many precious paintings there. I was simply thrilled.

Then it was time to return. The sweet and sad memories of Murshidabad if the bygone days began to flash upon my inward eye.

Hope you are all quite well. Convey my best regards to your parents and love to your brother and sister.

Your loving friend,

Pritam
