Tree Plantation Essay: Trees are our best friends. We all know the importance of tree plantation in the current situation of environment pollution. So let’s start the “Essay on Tree Plantation”.

Tree Plantation Essay

“If I knew that the world would end tomorrow, I would still plant my apple tree.” This quote by King Martin Luther shows not only the utility of trees, but his heartfelt love for trees. Undoubtedly, the importance of trees and plants can never be underestimated, because they are very necessary for our life. Considering their importance, trees and plants are worshipped in our country.

Environmentalists and scientists are giving a lot of emphasis on tree plantation these days. He says that tree plantation is necessary for environmental balance and real human progress. Why is tree plantation necessary? We will get the answer only when we know the benefits of trees. So first we discuss the benefits of trees.

Need and importance of tree plantation

Trees are our earliest friends. They have been on the earth before we appeared on it. Trees are the most precious gift of nature to mankind. Trees are beneficial to us in many ways. They convert carbon-di-oxide released by organisms into life-giving oxygen. We make different types of medicines from their leaves, barks and roots. From these we get juicy and delicious fruits. Where trees are abundant, rainfall is also adequate. Lack of trees causes drought. Trees give defence against dust, storm, hot air and soil erosion. They enhance the beauty of the environment. The wood obtained from the trees is used for building and making furniture. Thus, from birth to death, man depends on trees and the various things derived from them.

Poet Rabindranath Tagore has said while explaining the importance of trees and plants “These trees are the tireless effort of earth to speak to heaven.” Due to these benefits from trees, humans have cut them down rapidly. Due to both industrial progress and deforestation, the environment has become highly polluted. Trees help in keeping the environment pollution free. Man continued to increase the number of factories for his benefit, but he did not pay attention to planting trees in proportion to that increase. On the contrary, man cut them fiercely.

As a result, Earth’s environment has become unbalanced. Plantation is necessary to protect human existence by balancing the environment. “A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a bowl; What more do you need to be happy!” Albert Einstein, the world’s greatest scientist, has linked this idea to the importance of each thing’s relationship with trees and plants, which shows their utility. Therefore, we need to protect ourselves and the environment. Trees and plants should be treated in a friendly manner. Due to deforestation, the problem of climate change has arisen in the last few years. For this, tree planting and conservation efforts are important.

Plantation and conservation efforts

Plantation or forest conservation is important for any living being. Therefore, efforts have been made at national, international and state levels for its planting and protection. India has set a target of 33% forest cover under the Forest Policy, but the share of forests and plantations under the Forest Report-2019 is 24.56%, still below the target. Therefore, the government has implemented many policies and schemes and programs to improve the condition of forests. National Forest Policy 1988, Compensatory Plantation Fund Act-2016 etc. are prominent in this. Provision has also been made under this Act for Central and State level authorities, which may be issued instructions by the Central Government from time to time. Also, the money spent under this fund is audited every year by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

Similarly Green India Mission, National Green Highway, National Afforestation Programme, Integrated Watershed Management Programme, tree plantation drive and joint forest management efforts at village level are prominent.

In addition to national efforts for tree planting and conservation, international efforts include the efforts of the United Nations Forum on Forests, the World Resources Institute, the Forest Program Partnership Facility and the Forest Investment Program. While REDD is limited to better management and conservation of forest resources by developing countries, REDD helps in conservation and sustainable management of deforestation and forest degradation.

States have played an important role at their level for tree plantation and conservation. For example, in the year 2019, more than 22 crore trees were planted under the Sapling Program in Uttar Pradesh. Similarly in Bihar starting from the year 2019 Jal Jeevan Hariyali program is major. Apart from this, other states are also promoting it. Various non-governmental organizations are also promoting it by planting trees. Also, compensatory construction and green credit schemes have also been recommended in January, 2020.

In addition to this, encroachment for increasing population, forest based industries, expansion of agriculture etc. is also increasing rapidly in India. Currently the issue of forests illustrates the conflict between environment and development. In such a way, we are waiting for the protection of forests
