Two Friends And A Bear
Once there were two friends. They were good friends. One day they were passing through a deep forest. “We shall stand by each other in any difficulty”, they said to each other. Suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them. They were frightened. The first friend knew how to climb a tree. He at once climbed up a tree. He did not think for a moment what would happen to his friend. The second friend did not know
how to climb a tree. But fortunately, he had a presence of mind. Suddenly, he remembered that a bear wouldn’t touch a dead body. So he lay flat on the ground, pretending to be a dead man. The bear came to him and sniffed at his mouth, nose and ears. It took him dead and went away quietly.

Two Friends And A Bear
Once there were two friends – Ravi and Shyam. They were bosom friends. They were inseparable from each other. Once they planned to visit another friend in a far-off village. They set out their journey. They had to cross a dense forest on their way in order to reach the village. They entered the forest and eventually lost their way. By the time, they realised that they were lost. It was already getting dark. The sun was setting in the West. Both of the friends were worried as well as afraid. They could not make out what they should do then. Suddenly, they saw a bear coming towards them. They were frightened as they realised they were going to be killed. Ravi knew how to climb a tree. He at once climbed up a tree and hid himself behind the foliage. He did not think for a moment what would happen to his friend.
Shyam, on the other hand, did not know how to climb a tree. He understood that he was surely going to be attacked by the bear. But fortunately, he had a presence of mind. Suddenly, he remembered that a bear wouldn’t touch a dead body. So he lay flat on the ground, pretending to be a dead man. As he lay still on the ground, he felt the bear approaching him. The bear came to him and sniffed at his mouth, nose and ears. The bear was fooled and soon it left that place thinking Shyam to be a corpse.
Then the other friend climbed down from the tree. He came to his friend and asked “What did the bear whisper into your ears?” The second friend replied, ” It advised me not to trust a man who leaves his friend in danger.” The first friend felt ashamed.
